Do you remember hearing about the story of the two astronauts who were married and then the dude started having an affair with some other astronaut woman? It was a few years ago. And then the lady who was married to the dude went crazy and decided to kill the dude's mistress? But the twist in the story was that she drove from Texas to Florida non-stop to do it. IN A DIAPER!
So my question is, Do you think she ever had second thoughts about driving non-stop to KILL her husband's mistress? Or do you think she ever had second thoughts about wearing the diaper? I am guessing the killing part never crossed her mind, but I am sure she had some second thoughts when she was about to take a dump in her pants. "Oh no... oh no.... oh God. I can't believe I am actually doing this...I can't pull over now... but I do have my pull ups on. Maybe I didn't need to plan this right down to the diaper. Coulda stopped at the rest stop and not really lost that much time. Oh well, something to consider for next time."

Security

Nobody probably notices this stuff but me, but I am an architect and I am pretty observant. And I am probably partly crazy. Oh and I spend a lot of time in public bathrooms. Ever notice that the only place you see non-reversing security screws are in public restroom stalls? Probably not. But I am guessing people want to be most destructive when they have a few minutes to just sit and relax and tamper with things; and bathroom stalls are their favorite things to tamper with apparently. "Just sitting here with my screwdriver... might as well take apart this stall door."
Check it out next time. I've never seen these anywhere else.

bathroom thoughts
Why do people care so much about when/if/or how frequently someone takes a shit? Maybe it's not that they care about it but it seems to be something that everyone has an opinion about. For example: "Oh, you go every morning?" "You go twice a day?" "Some days you don't go?" "Oh, I go as soon as I wake up and right after my morning coffee." "I have a schedule." "I hate vacation, it throws off my whole schedule." "Let's not schedule that meeting for eight o'clock if you know what I mean." "You gotta go again? Jesus!" "Sometimes I go four times a day!"
But no one really seems to care either way about someone's pee schedule. People just pretty much go whenever they feel like it and no one gives them any shit about it.

Bathroom Renovation

It's coming along. Slowly. Very Slowly. So close...So close. So what started off as me not feeling like cleaning my bathroom one day and instead turned into a total bathroom renovation... it's almost, ALMOST, complete after two and half months. My days of running down the stairs each morning to take care of my first order of business (brushing my teeth) are finally coming to a close. Tile is all done, medicine cabinet installed, electrical done. I just have to a few small things to take care of, hang my shower curtain, hook up my sink, paint, trim and I am in business.

Broad Street Run 2011

Crossing things off my list... Finally ran the Broad Street 10 miler this year, and it couldn't have been a more perfect day for a run. High 60s, sunny. Personally I feel like I kicked ass, but there's always room for improvement, and when I finished I felt like I could run a few more miles. My stats were pretty good. Finished in 1:24:41, an 8:28 mile pace, and was in the top 22% of finishers which I think is pretty ridiculous for a not so serious runner. But the stat I'm probably most proud of is my age/gender finish. Usually I am getting my ass handed to me in that category, but this time I was in the top 37%.
The interesting things that happened: Since we got there an hour and a half early at my sister's insistence, there was a lot of waiting around before the start. I drank a little too much water on the ride in so I'd stay hydrated. Luckily the lines for the bathrooms weren't so long yet. I go to this long line of probably 30 toilets and walk into a stinky one. Did a quick number 1 and came out. This lady walking into the one I just walked out of says to me "how is it in there? Is it bad?" which kind of caught me off guard. To which I replied "ugh, yeah, it's pretty bad but it wasn't me." I wanted to be like "look lady, it's not my personal bathroom you a-hole, it's a port-o-pot. I'm not responsible for it's cleanliness." Anyway, since we were there so long, I had to go again before the race. The lines were long this time. Probably 30 people deep. I get to the front of the line and am about to go in, when the lady that came out informs me that there was no toilet paper in there. Luckily I didn't need any but I was thinking how awful that would be if you did. Imagine you just waited in line for fifteen minutes and are about to run 10 miles, but now you gotta do it with an unwiped ass. Ouch.

Bathroom Renovation

I've been saving whatever money I can lately and have been buying some things for my upstairs bathroom in phases over the past few months. This is the last major renovation project in my house. I think with the completion of this project my house will finally, after 5 plus years start feeling like a house. I still have plenty of other major expense things to get done, like eventually get all new windows, waterproof my basement, and finish up a bunch of little random things. So, this weekend for whatever reason, and probably against my better judgment, I decided to start the deconstruction. I was thinking that I really needed to clean my house but instead dirtied it up. Here's what I've done so far. Just knocked out two walls because I still need the other two shower walls for my shower. I realize now how annoying it is to not have a sink and toilet upstairs. The demo has been going pretty well so far though. No real problems or surprises, and I've been pretty diligent about cleaning up as I go. Probably because there is no real room for the mess to accumulate in that small of a space. Looking back though, I should have done this as my first project when I moved in, but I say that about every house project I've taken on.
